Mutfwang polled 525,299 votes to defeat Nantawe Yilwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 481,370 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Caleb Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the governorship election in Plateau State.

Prof Idris Amali, INEC’s Returning Officer in the State declared Mutfwang winner of the election having polled majority of the votes and satisfied the law.

Mutfwang polled 525,299 votes to defeat Nantawe Yilwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 481,370 votes.

Patrick Dakum of the Labour Party (LP) came a distant third with 60,310 votes.

Mutfwang won in 10 Local Governments. They are Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Lantang North, Langtang South, Riyom, Mikang, Mangu, Jos East as well as Qua’an Pan and Pokkos.

Yilwatda won in seven local government areas of Jos East, Kanke, Kanam, Pankshin, Shendam, Wase and Jos North respectively.

Yilwatda of the APC lost the election despite being backed by the incumbent Governor, Simon Lalong.
