Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Lagos State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), having polled majority of the votes.
The governor scored approximately 65 percent (762,134) of the entire votes cast at the poll, while rival, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour of the Labour Party polled 26.6 percent (312,329 votes) of the entire votes cast.
Jide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 5.3 percent ( 62,449 votes) of the votes cast.
At least 1.5 percent (17,953 votes) of the votes cast were declared void for not playing by the rule of the poll, while the votes polled by other minor contestants were put at 1.6 percent (18,766 votes).
Out of the Total Registered Voters of 7,060,195 in Lagos for the governorship election, only 1,182,620 voters were accredited, while Total Valid votes stand at 1,155,678. Total Votes Cast stand at 1,173,631, while rejected votes are 17,953.
