The Commissioner of Police in charge of election duties in Rivers, Echeng Echeng, has confirmed the murder of Chisom Lenard, the Director General of campaign for All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ahoada West local government area of the state on Saturday.
The Commissioner has tasked operatives of the Command to deploy all necessary human and investigative assets to ensure that killers of Lenard are brought to book.
The confirmation of the murder of Lenard is contained in a press statement signed by SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command’s Public Relations Officer on Sunday.
According to the statement, “From information gathered, the Campaign DG was shot by yet to be identified gunmen in the afternoon of Saturday 18th March, 2023”.
She added that the Commissioner of Police commiserates with family of the bereaved and has promised to bring the perpetrators of such heinous crime to justice after diligent investigations.
However, eyewitnesses claimed that the murderers of Chisom Lenard wore Police combat fatigue.
