Nigeria Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has returned to the social media space after taking months off hiatus to recover from the loss of his first son, Ifeanyi Adeleke on October 31st 2022.
Following the demise of his son, it has restructuring experience for the DMW boss as there has been a new turn on his social media pages, he deleted all his posts on Instagram and Twitter pages on Tuesday night, March 14, 2023.
The extravagant and influential popstar who has over 26 million followers on Instagram and 13 million followers on Twitter left three posts on his page, the one of his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, he and his wife, Chioma Adeleke and a picture of his performance at the World cup Qatar. He also removed his profile picture from his social media pages.
The Pop star has returned with a video clip of his new album to be released on March 31st 2023 titled “Timeless” and also concluding his appreciation message to his fans with “Today, I want to remind you all that what is now Timeless, was once new. It’s time for the new”.
In the new return of Davido, there are some corrections he need to make to avoid future pain and have enjoy timeless relevance as he has attracted controversies almost in equal measures.

Confraternity
Speculations and controversial reports have been pervading the internet of Davido being a top member of Aiye/Black axe confraternity with some signs of the music act association with the group being displayed in some of his videos. For a lasting stardom and safety, he need avoid any cult association.
Babymama
Another correction Davido needs to make is the number of baby mamas he is apparently making a fame of. Currently, the pop singer has four children from five baby mamas of which Ifeanyi Adeleke would have been the fifth though Davido secretly married his long-time lover, Chioma Rowland barely five days after their son’s death.
Extravagant lifestyle
Davido is one of Africa’s wealthiest and prominent artiste. The Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer makes most of his income from international and local shows and his own Concerts. In March 2022, Davido became a hot topic when a new video went viral of the mega superstar buying a N38 million hand sanitizer from popular Miami-based jeweller, Johnny Dang.
In another refection of affluence, Davido bought product that anybody can get from their local store at no more than N200 – a lighter. But not just any lighter. Davido’s lighter was a diamond lighter which he bought for $5,000 (over N2 Million) from Icebox. The singer took to his social media to show off the expensive lighter to the shock and amazement of fans.
Davido is also known for spending huge amounts of money at clubs and outings. However, when he shared his receipt of over 5,000 British Pounds that he spent on a night out, fans had to raise their brows calling his bill “extravagant”.
In 2019, Davido appeared on IceBox, an Atlanta based jewellery store’s YouTube video where he brought in a Louis Vuitton bag full of cash. By the time Davido walked out of IceBox, he had spent $150,000 all during that one trip. People’s comments under the video were filled with surprise and envy. Somebody even commented saying: “I get paid $500 a month , I can’t believe he just paid $150,000 for jewelry. That’s like my salary for 25 years, 25 years bro.”
Show off lifestyle
The award-winning singer is known for showing off his luxury lifestyle and assets to the social media space. He doesn’t only like to live large but has done everything possible to stay relevant since his rise to fame in the Nigerian music industry. This has stirred so many reactions and controversies. In 2022, he showed off his recently purchased Banana Island land which is worth N2.5 billion, saying he had acquired new land to build his dream home and also
about to build the craziest crib ever seen. To avoid envy and controversy, the DMW boss needs to reduce his display of luxury and private life on the social media space.
Arrogance
Speculations have been claiming Davido to be arrogant but on January 27,2021, he took to his official Twitter page to state that people said he is arrogant when he calls himself the best. He often dubs himself as one of the best singers in Nigeria and it has led to him being dragged by others in the music industry and their fans. In order to avoid the perception of arrogance, he needs to employ the previous factor “avoidance of show off lifestyle.”
Song-buying
Superstar musician Davido has being called out on social media by different music artistes of which they laid claims that he bought a lot of his hit songs, beat and lyrics. In Nigeria though, a lot of artistes write their own song to avoid the attack of stealing song from another artiste as this can really damage their image. In 2021, Victor AD accused 30 BG star of stealing his hit track “Jowo”. In 2018 also Mbamara Arinze, aka Zona Gee, caused quite a stir on social
media when he recently accused Davido of stealing a song from him. Arinze claimed that he wrote Davido’s song, “Assurance” and sent it to him via messaging app, WhatsApp. In order to maintain his credibility, the 30 BG star needs to ensure he writes his song himself to avoid controversy on his songs.
Battle of supremacy
Fame can be thrilling but sometimes can bring about hate, competition and rivalry among top stars. In this journey of Timeless, Davido needs to avoid “who’s a bigger star” battle in order to remain timeless and relevant.
