The Ogun chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has insisted that its candidates won last Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections held in the state in a free and fair manner.

The party said this in statement issued obviously in reaction to claims by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP earlier that it rigged the election in connivance with officials of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and security operatives.

The PDP and its governorship candidate in the election, Ladi Adebutu had embarked on protested the outcome of the election at the Abeokuta office of INEC on Tuesday.

The opposition party also vowed that it would challenge the declaration of Governor Dapo Abiodun as the winner of the election at the tribunal.

However, the APC, in a statement by Tunde Oladunjoye, its spokesperson in the state on Saturday dismissed the claims by the PDP.

APC insisted that the election was peaceful and true reflection of people’s expectations, and it won the governorship election “fair and square”.
