Ivanka Trump, daughter of former US President, Donald Trump says she is pained by the travail her father is going through after he was indicted by the New York Grand Jury on Thursday.

Trump was indicted on criminal charges in New York for his role in organising hush money payments made to an adult film star during his 2016 campaign.

The history-making indictment by the Manhattan grand jury on Thursday marks the first time a president has been charged in a criminal matter.

Prosecutors in New York are preparing for Trump’s surrender to court officials.

Prosecutors have been investigating the payment of hush money to an adult film star prior to Trump’s election in 2016.

Reacting to this on her Instagram Story, Ivanka said she loves her father and her country, but noted that she was pained for both.

“I love my father and I love my country. Today, I am pained for both.
