Bishop Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has responded to allegations that he campaigned and solicited ‘Christian votes’ for a particular presidential candidate.

He clarified on Sunday while speaking to the congregation at the church’s headquarters, Faith Tabernacle, in Ota, Ogun State.

Referring to a leaked audio between him and the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the cleric that he never campaigned for or spoke on behalf of any politician in the run-up to the 2023 general elections.

In a viral phone conversation obtained by The Gazette, Obi was heard urging Oyedepo to mobilise Christians in Kwara and Kogi states to vote for him (Obi).

However, Oyedepo claims that all political parties sought his prayers and advice prior to the election.

He claimed that no one in this world had ever told him what to say.

“That’s why some people are very angry with me. Nobody has ever told me what to say in this world. (laughs) I have never campaigned for anybody or spoken on anybody’s behalf and I will not do that till I go to heaven.

“There is no (political) party in this country that didn’t come to me for prayers and advice.

“I advised them, some, they didn’t take. Those who chose to take it saw results; those who said no are still going about it. If you still come again, I will still tell you, it doesn’t change,” he maintained.
