Former US President, Donald Trump has left Florida for New York ahead of Tuesday’s historic arraignment in a Manhattan courthouse.

Trump was indicted on criminal charges in New York for his role in organising hush money payments made to an adult film star during his 2016 campaign.

The history-making indictment by the Manhattan grand jury last Thursday marks the first time a president has been charged in a criminal matter.

Trump departed Palm Beach, Florida on Monday and is expected to land at New York’s LaGuardia airport around 3 p.m. ET and will stay at Trump Tower tonight, according to CNN.

The former US President faces more than 30 counts related to business fraud. A New York grand jury handed down the sealed indictment late last week. The charges have yet to be made public.

The CNN reports that Trump is not expected to stay in New York City for very long. Immediately after his Tuesday court appearance, Trump plans to return to Florida, where he has scheduled an event to speak publicly.

Trump had denied any wrong doing, saying his indictment by the New York Grand Jury is simply Political persecution and election interference at the highest level in history.

He said from the time he came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower, and even before he was sworn in as President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats — the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country — have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement.
