The operation caused heavy gridlock on the busy road, leaving passengers stranded for several hours, as operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), worked hard to control the traffic situation.

The Public Education Officer of the FRSC, Orevia Ukoh, confirmed the incident.

“It is two persons that were actually involved, one male adult and a female adult. They died in the river.

“It is obvious that the man was on a high speed because that night, other road users were not there, so he has the whole road to himself,” Ukoh said.
