Mr. Ephraim Nwuzi, a House of Representatives members in Rivers, arrested for threatening officials of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, just before the February 25 election has reportedly dumped his party, All Progressives Congress, APC for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after he was released from detention.
Nwuzi had dumped the PDP and joined APC about two years ago, pledging loyalty to the immediate past Minister of Transportation and leader of the party in the state, Chibuike Amaechi after accusing Governor Nyesom Wike of high-handedness.
Nwuzi was arrested about two days to the February 25, 2023, Presidential and National Assembly elections after he was caught on a viral video threatening to assault INEC officials for the elections.
He was remanded in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre after appearing in Court in connection with the threats.
But it was learnt that the Ephraim Nwuze was released following withdrawal of the charges against him by the Rivers government through the State Attorney General who also announced discontinuance of his prosecution.
However, some photographs which surfaced after Nwuze was released showed him with Governor Wike and other PDP chieftains at the Governor’s private residence in Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers.
A video showed him singing and dancing with some others to a popular song on power rotation associated with Wike.
