Alhaji Shuiabu Abubakar-Audu, son of late Kogi governor, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari, the President-Elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Alhaji Abubakar Adamu to intervene in the controversies surrounding the primary of the party for Kogi governorship election.
The primary for the election scheduled for November 2023 Friday was won by Alhaji Ahmed Usman-Ododo.
However, Abubakar-Audu, who was also an aspirant in the APC primary described it as highly compromised.
According to him, the election was characterized by unprecedented irregularities, vowing that he and his supporters will not give up in their demand for justice.
”My supporters and I are determined to ensure that justice is done, and this, we shall pursue to logical conclusion through the Primary Election Appeal Committee.
“The primary election of Friday, did not hold in most ward centres as officials and material were not available.
“We shall not hesitate, if need be, to challenge the process in the court of law, as it is an established fact that when and if a party violates its own rules, its actions becomes a nullity.
“This is because, we reject the just concluded APC primaries election result,” he said.
In a swift reaction, state APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, said that Abubakar-Audu’s claims were frivolous.
“This is because, primary election was conducted across the 239 wards of the state on Friday.
“The results of the election across the state speak for themselves in which Alhaji Ahmed Usman-Ododo emerged as winner.
