Joining Amusan are sprinters, Rosemary Chukwuma, Favour Ofili and two male athletes, Favour Ashe and Ezekiel Nathaniel.

Nigeria’s Golden Girl, Tobi Amusan alongside four other athletes have qualified for next year’s World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

Amusan, who is the reigning world 100m hurdles champion, topped the list of qualifiers, having secured her spot through her impressive outdoor performance at the Tom Jones Invitational in Florida.

Her 12.59 secs run surpassed the 12.80 secs outdoor entry standard set for the event.

Joining Amusan are sprinters, Rosemary Chukwuma and Favour Ofili, who both achieved personal bests during the NCAA indoor circuit.

Two male athletes, Favour Ashe and Ezekiel Nathaniel, also secured their spots in the Championships through the NCAA indoor circuit.

The window for qualification is still open, and several Nigerian athletes are expected to make the mark to qualify for the global tournament.

Among those expected to qualify is Ese Brume, who won silver at the 2022 World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, and Ruth Usoro, whose 6.87m mark indoors this year was just two centimetres short of the 6.89m qualification mark set by World Athletics.

Udodi Onwuzurike also came close to meeting the standard, with 6.59 secs run in the 60m, falling just a hundredth of a second short of the 6.58 secs standard set for the event.
