Eaglets beat Zambia

The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria have defeated Zambia by a lone goal in their first match of the ongoing Under-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Algeria.

After a goalless first half in which the Eaglets missed several scoring chances, including a disallowed goal, the Nigeria side broke the deadlock on 76th minute.

Favour Daniel struck the only goal of the game to give Nigeria their first win.

The Nigerian side is playing in Group B along with Morocco and South Africa.

Earlier on 41 minutes, Precious Williams missed a goal that would have seen the Nigerian side took the lead.

The Eaglets got a penalty towards the end of the game, but Eze’s lame short was easily caught by the Zambian goalkeeper.

Golden Eaglets defender Yahaya Lawali scooped the Man of the Match award as Nigeria eked a hard earned 1-0 win over Zambia.
