A farmer identified as Friday Omosigho, has reportedly committed suicide by drinking substance suspected to be sniper, after attempting to kill his wife by inflicting machete cuts all over her body.

He reportedly lured his wife, Mercy Omosigho, to the farm and attacked her with a machete over allegation of infidelity.

The incident occurred at Ehiozevbaru village in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo state.

It was gathered that deceased who accused his wife, Mercy Omosigho, of having affairs with other men, took the matter to the village meeting where some elders intervened to resolve the dispute.

Apparently not satisfied with the elders’ mediation, he reportedly lured his wife to the farm where he attacked her with a machete cuts all over her body and abandoned her in the pool of her own blood to die.

It was further gathered that Friday was said to have called his younger brother and informed him that he had killed his wife, after which he went home to commit suicide by drinking sniper.
