Deontay Wilder, one of boxing’s biggest stars was arrested on Tuesday morning on a gun charge.
According to Marca, the Los Angeles Police Department discovered a concealed 9mm firearm in his vehicle during a routine traffic stop.
TMZ reported that marijuana was also found during the stop.
Despite the circumstances, Wilder was reportedly cooperative and nice during his arrest and was able to post bail just a few hours later.
The news comes as Wilder was gearing up for a highly anticipated fight against fellow boxing star, Anthony Joshua. With a professional record of 42-2-1, Wilder is widely considered to be one of the best boxers in the world.
However, both of his losses and his lone draw have come against Tyson Fury, in a trilogy of fights that have captivated audiences worldwide.
Wilder’s last fight was a dominating win over Robert Helenius, which only added to the anticipation surrounding a potential fight against Joshua.
