Erling Haaland on Wednesday broke the premier league scoring record with his 35th goal, as Manchester City thrashed West Ham 3-0 to move top.
Haaland becomes to first player to score 35 goals in a premier league season, a record previously held Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole who had scored 34 goals in a premier league season.
In Wednesday’s game, after a goalless first half, City sprang back to life, opening scoring on 50 minutes against West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.
Riyad Mahrez sent a free-kick in and Nathan Ake leapt high to connect with it on the edge of the 6-yard box. His close-range header went low into the middle of the net.
Twenty minutes later, Haaland scored his record-breaking goal to make it 2-0 for the homers.
Jack Grealish found Haaland inside the box, he spotted goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski off his line and chipped the ball into the net.
City made it 3-0 five minutes to duration time. Phil Foden picked the ball up in space and from the edge of the box lashed in a shot that was deflected past the helpless Lukasz Fabianski.
On added time, Foden ran onto a loose pass inside the box and released a tremendous shot low towards the middle of the goal. However, Lukasz Fabianski anticipated the shot and made an easy save.
