Akpabio will emerge President of 10th Senate - Ganduje assures

Former Akwa Ibom governor, Godswill Akpabio has been endorsed as the president of 10th Senate by the governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said in a video.

Ganduje, who also confirmed that governors of the ruling party have agreed to zone zone the next Senate Presidency to the South-south geopolitical region of the country.

He spoke against the background of the raging battle for the position of the senate president and speaker-ship of the 10th National Assembly among the elected members.

But, in a video circulating on the internet by African Independent Television (AIT), Ganduje claimed APC governors have decided to throw their weight behind Akpabio, who is from the South-south.

As shown in the video, Ganduje spoke during a meeting between some of his colleague and some individuals.

He added that the party will ensure that its proposed zoning formula is carried through.

“The Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will come from the South-south and no other person than the former governor of Akwa Ibom , the uncommon governor, the uncommon minister who will be the uncommon president of the senate,” he said.

“We have resolved that, so we are giving you assurance. We are waiting for the deal day to be the Senate President of Nigeria.”

Speaking at the meeting, Ayade thanked the APC governors for zoning the senate president to the South south.
