The Gunners were expected to have a stiffer challenge from high-flying Newcastle, but they managed to squeeze two goals past the homers.

On 21 minutes, Martinelli latched on to a precise pass and one-on-one with the keeper slammed the ball towards the left-hand post. Nick Pope iwas alert and leaps like a salmon to deny him.
On first half added time, Nick Pope pulled off a great save to deny Odegaard after receiving a precise defence-splitting pass. The effort was headed for the left side of the goal, but the goalkeeper dived superbly to stop it.
An own goal by Fabian Schar gave Arsenal the second goal on 71 minutes. He deflected the ball past his own goalkeeper and into the goal after trying to jump in the way of a shot.
