The Oyo State Police Command on Friday paraded an 80-year-old man and three others for armed robbery and killing of an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ogunleye Daniel.
The 80-year-old man, Gabriel Adeniyi is alleged to be the spiritual healer of the gang of robbers who killed the ASP.
He and three others were paraded at the command’s headquarter in Ibadan, Oyo State, according to the Punch.
Spokesperson of the command, Adewale Osifeso said on 29 April, 2023 at about 1.00am, a group of suspected armed robbers, numbering five invaded the Ori-Agogo community, Odo-Ona Kekere in the Oluyole Local Government area of the state, and robbed several residents of their belongings.
He said during the robbery operation, ASP Daniel was killed.
Osifeso stated that three suspects including their spiritual healer, Gabriel Adeniyi, 80; Oyetumbi Ademola, 25 and Michael Adeniyi, 26 were arrested, while their gang leader named Fatai Fasasi, 30, popularly known as Ogun who allegedly shot and killed the deceased officer was neutralized at an encounter with Police operatives during their trail.
He disclosed that two Samsung phones belonging to their victims alongside; a 1999 Hyundai Elantra vehicle (Their getaway car) and a cut-to-size locally made barrel used by the assailants had been recovered.
In the same vein, Osifeso said during the process of voluntarily confessing to the crimes committed, they further revealed one Kafilat Tiamiyu, a.k.a Iya Alaye as a criminal receiver who receives jewelry (gold) proceeds from them.
He added that based on this, the said Kafilat Tiamiyu was tracked and arrested at Oranyan area of Ibadan.
