The Federal Government of Nigeria has renamed the Ministry of Aviation to the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace.
It was declared on the sidelines of a Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation, noted that aviation and aerospace were interwoven, and Nigeria needed to proactively develop rules to match with future occurrences.
He explained that the change was made since it was on the exclusive list.
Sirika argued that the future of aviation had advanced to the point where aviation and aerospace were integrated, and Nigeria needed to proactively develop laws to correspond with future occurrences.
The minister further related the development to the founding of the African Aerospace and Aviation University in Abuja.
