Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos Police Command have caught one Benjami Iggba with a suspected stolen 20-metre long cable belonging to the Lagos State Electricity Board.

Iggba was arrested by RRS officers patrolling the Old Toll Gate, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, according to statement on the social media handle of the police department.

He and three others who subsequently fled upon sighting the police patrol vehicle were attempting to load the cable into a Volkswagen Golf, according to the statement.

Also, two diggers, one shovel and armoured cables were recovered from him during his arrest.

While the suspect is currently facing prosecution, the Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi have charged his men to intensify efforts to arrest the three fleeing suspects.
