The Renewed Middle Belt Forum (RMBF) has endorsed Simon Lalong, the outgoing Plateau State governor, for the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in the incoming administration.

Their support is stated in a letter dated May 22 and signed by its president, Bala Mohammed, and Secretary-General, Dr. Abu James Abu.

According to the letter, the forum reached this determination after conducting a thorough review of all competent Middle Belt sons and daughters and their impact on government.

Lalong, they claim, stood out because of his loyalty, immaculate track record, experience, and pedigree, and that he would ensure Tinubu kept every promise he made to Nigerians.

The RMBF further stated that the appointment will alleviate Christian concerns about the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket and the Middle Belt’s marginalisation.

“May 29 (inauguration day) will be historic in so many ways and we believe this will be the beginning of a new dawn for the nation.

“We are confident that this administration will hit the ground running immediately with the appointments of cabinet members.

“Governor Lalong will not only settle the perceived religious and sectional bias, but he is also a man who has over the years displayed exceptional capacity, sagacity, and effective leadership. He is a unifier and detribalised Nigerian with an incredible track record and pedigree.
