The Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has been participating in Back to Black Festival in Brazil which started on 25 May with a panel titled ”Portrait of Africa.”

Moderated by Carolina Morais, Professor Soyinka and Bahian musician Mateus Aleluia spoke eloquently about many aspects of African culture and its impacts on a global scale.

When he visited Little Africa, a region which was a destination of the largest number of enslaved people in the Americas, Soyinka celebrated the resilient spirit of the African diaspora and highlighted the importance of the shared history between Brazil and Africa.

On 1 and 2 June, the Nobel Laureate will be on stage at Sesc Vila Mariana in São Paulo to deliver his lectures.
