President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held his first security meeting with service chiefs at the State House, Abuja.

At the meeting were the Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba.

Tinubu holds first security council meetingAlso at the meeting was the Mohammed Babagana Monguno, National Security Adviser.

The president, on assuming office had vowed to give security top priority in his administration. He said he would embark on training and retraining of security agencies to equip them to fight terrorism and others.

Tinubu was sworn in on 29 May, 2023 as the 16th president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

He took over from former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who completed his eight years tenure.
