President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Friday in Abuja announced the appointment of Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, and Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff.

The president made the announcement in a meeting with Progressives Governors Forum (PGF).

Tinubu also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

PM News had on Thursday exclusively reported that Gbajabiamila has been favoured for the role of Chief of Staff.

Gbajabiamila was appointed by the president after several hours of meetings and consultations.

The decision to pick Gbajabiamila was made by Tinubu after evaluating all possible candidates aspiring for the post among his loyalists.

Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who was yet to receive his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would have to forgo his election into the House of Representatives for the sixth term.

This development would also create another opportunity for other aspirants within the party that had shelved their ambition to represent Surulere constituency 1 at the House of Representatives.

Gbajabiamila’s maturity and ability to help communicate the president’s policies to lawmakers properly was one of the criteria that was considered.
