Ilkay Gundogan scored twice on Saturday as Premier League champions, Manchester City beat Manchester United 2-1 to claim the FA Cup trophy at the Wembley Stadium.

City, who are on their way to treble defeated United for their double and will claim a treble if they beat Inter Milan next Saturday in the UEFA Champions League.

Ilkay Gundogan scored a minute into the game. He got to the ball on the edge of the box and fired in a first-time shot without any hesitation. The strike was excellent and went inside the right post.

Three minutes later, Rodri displayed good awareness near the penalty spot to get on the end of a cross from the free kick, but he steered his header narrowly wide of the right post.

Kevin De Bruyne found himself with a great opportunity and unleashed a shot from the edge of the box, which whizzed just wide of the right post.

United equalised from the penalty spot on 33 minutes. Bruno Fernandes ran up to the ball, stopped and waited for Stefan Ortega to commit before slotting the penalty into the bottom left corner.

City made it 2-1 on 51 minutes. Gundogan got his brace when he fired a brilliant volley into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box, leaving the goalkeeper helpless, with Kevin De Bruyne providing the assist.

On 62 minutes, De Bruyne skipped past a few defenders in the penalty area and struck a low shot towards the left side of the goal, but the goalkeeper denied his effort with a superb save.

Seven minutes later, Marcus Rashford unleashed a rocket of a shot from the edge of the box and his shot flew just a few inches over the crossbar.

Gundogan appeared to have gotten his hat-trick on 71 minutes, but the goal was disallowed due to offside.
