But for the timely intervention of the police, scores of hoodlums who invaded shopping plazas in the premises of the old Kano owned Triumph Newspapers, would have vandalized and looted property in the multi-million Naira plaza.

Our Correspondent recalls that the plaza which was completed few weeks ago was constructed under Public Private Partnership, to serve as the major centre for Bureau De Change business in the ancient of Kano.

Following the construction of the shopping plaza inside the premises, part of which houses a campus of the Open National University, the Triumph Publishing Company was relocated to the Kwankwassiyya City by the immediate-past administration of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

On Sunday, hoodlums who took advantage of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf policy of demolishing structures built in public places by the immediate-past administration, invaded the Triumph premises, on a mission to vandalize and loot property in violent disposition.

But the quick intervention of the police who dispersed them and cordoned off the area, saved the situation.

Our Correspondent reports that mixed reactions have continued to trail Governor Yusuf’s demolition exercise which commenced in Kano at the wee hours of Saturday.
