Prince Harry: arrives London

Prince Harry is scheduled to appear in London’s High Court on Monday to testify in his lawsuit against the publisher of the British tabloid The Daily Mirror.

King Charles’ youngest son, will appear in court this week as the first senior British royal in 130 years, most likely on Monday or Tuesday.

He is one of over 100 high-profile people suing Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), publisher of the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, and Sunday People, for alleged phone hacking and other illegal activities between 1991 and 2011.

The trial began last month, with lawyers representing Harry and three other test claimants attempting to prove that illegal information collecting was carried out with the knowledge and agreement of senior editors and executives.

MGN, which is now owned by Reach (RCH.L), apologised at the opening of the trial for one confessed instance in which the Sunday People wrongfully requested information about Harry, acknowledging that he was entitled to compensation.

However, it has denied his other charges, claiming that he lacked evidence to back up his claims.

Buckingham Palace is anticipated to come up frequently during Harry’s cross-examination, with MGN claiming that some information came from royal aides.
