Three suspected members of a cult gang were gunned down during an exchange of gunfire with operatives of Ahoada Police Division in Udebu community, Ahoada East local government area of Rivers State on Sunday.

Police sources said operatives of Ahoada Division mobilised to the community after they got credible information on Sunday that there was going to be a supremacy battle between Iceland and Greenland cult groups.

Community sources also told our reporter that members of the cult groups had mobilized to engage in a supremacy battle at the community when they were intercepted by the Police.

Our source further disclosed that one Mr Bright and two other suspected cultists were shot dead by the Police in exchange of gun fire with the hoodlums.

A resident of the community disclosed to our correspondent that a ‘General’ of one of the groups, Ikechukwu Uturu, aka “Old School”, and other cultists escaped with bullet wounds.

It was gathered that one locally fabricated G-3 rifle, a locally fabricated pistol which uses AK 47 ammunition,charms and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the hoodlums by the Police.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed that three suspected cultists were shot dead by the Police in Udebu in exchange of gunfire, but she did not give further details.

She however promised to release a comprehensive report on the incident later.

CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, had on assumption of duty at Rivers State Police Command vowed that his administration will take battle to the hideouts of criminals, especially suspected cultists, kidnappers and armed robbers.
