Sandra Izsadore, the African-American activist and singer who radicalized her boyfriend Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti and changed the course of his music has opened up on why she wrote a book on her relationship with him entitled Fela And Me.

Izsadore, formerly known as Sandra Smith, said she did not write the book for profit but so that readers and scholars would not be confused.

According to her she wanted people to know her story form the inside and for the readers to see things from her point of view and, also, as a way of expressing her feelings of love and pain on paper; with the hope that females who are hopelessly in love learn how to love and respect themselves.

Izsadore made this disclosure on Saturday 10 June while expressing delight at the fact that Amazon had reached out to her, requesting that she allows the company to sell her book.

Izsadore wrote:

“Back to the story of why I am writing all this down today. I am truly humbled from the acknowledging and recognition by Amazon, apparently there has been request for my book. I have an international market that would like to read my book, at a reasonable price, I am sure, but shipping cost is ridiculous.

“My wish is for the readers to see things from my point of view. The book was/is a way of expressing my feelings of love and pain on paper, hoping that females who are hopelessly in love learn how to love and respect themselves.

“Women must learn to love and respect themselves enough to recognize their strength and powers. It is necessary for a woman to differentiate between possession and love.

“In my world these two run side by side creating confusion especially when a man that is loved and he may loves many, the choice then becomes the woman’s.

“Getting back to the reason I am writing here today although flattering. It feels good to have a major company reach out with an offer to sell my book. I want my people to know, only those people who are true AfroBeat knowledge seekers that already have a copy.

“Know that you have and original collectors item. There were only 249 copies of my book received here in the America. The book is rare and only one source for purchase.

“I truly have no interest in making my book a public item, so those of you who have purchased directly from smbentertainment.org. Know that you have something special,” Izsadore maintained.
