President Bola Tinubu on Monday met with Senate President hopeful, Godswill Akpabio in Abuja ahead of Tuesday’s inauguration of the 10th National Assembly.

He is being backed by Tinubu to become the next Senate President to replace Ahmad Lawan.

The Senate President hopeful was accompanied to the State House, Abuja by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and the outgoing Senate President, Lawan. Also at the meeting was the outgoing Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

At the end of the meeting, Akpabio said he is hopeful of victory as he enjoyed the support of over 90 per cent of people supporting the choice of the party.

Also, Uzodinma expressed confidence that Akpabio would emerge as the next president of the 10th Senate.
According to him, the committee set up by President Tinubu to resolve the controversy over the forthcoming leadership race has achieved substantial progress.
