Senator Jibrin Barau was elected the Deputy Senate President of the 10th National Assembly on Tuesday.
He was returned after there was no other nomination after he was nominated for the position.
Barau was nominated by Senator -elects Dave Umahi and Salihu Mustapha.
Former Akwa Ibom governor, Godswill Akpabio had earlier been elected the President of the Senate of the 10th Senate.
Akpabio defeated Senator Abdul’aziz Yari with 63 votes to defeat Yari who scored 46 votes.
Akpabio and Barau are the preferred choice of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC for the position of the senate president and deputy senate president respectively.
Akpabio is expected to sworn-in other senators-elect as his first task as the senate president.
