Wife of Edo State Governor, Dr. Betsy Obaseki has charged school administrators to always uphold and preserve the principles and ideals established to guide their institutions from inception.

She gave the charge on Thursday, during a heartwarming and nostalgic visit to her Alma mater, the Federal Government Girls’ College, Benin City.

The Edo First Lady was a founding student of the prestigious College decades ago.

In her speech, Mrs Obaseki who gave assurances of her commitment to supporting the school, promised to utilize her time and resources to the best of her ability towards ensuring that her Alma mater continues to thrive and provide quality education for future generations.

She noted that the homecoming visit to her Alma mater served as an inspiring reminder of the transformative power of education and the enduring bonds formed within educational communities.

She emphasized the importance of maintaining a conducive learning environment and nurturing the talents and potentials of the students.

“It stands as a symbol of hope and encouragement for current and future students, inspiring them to dream big and pursue their goals with determination and resilience,” she added.

Mrs Obaseki was treated to spirited performances, including captivating cultural dances and musical presentation.

The Institution prepared a grand and elaborate ceremony to honor and welcome the distinguished guest, showcasing the deep respect and admiration for her.

The Edo First Lady used the occasion to graciously accept requests from various individuals, including the Board of Trustees members, students, and staff, regarding the pressing needs of the institution.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Principal of Federal Government Girls’ College, Mrs. Agiedo Osamudiamen, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the First Lady, for gracing the school with her presence and for emphasizing the importance of preserving the founding principles and ideals of the institution.

She emphasized the impact of Mrs Obaseki’s visit to the school, noting that it served as a source of inspiration and motivation for both students and staff.

She expressed her gratitude for the promises made to address the urgent needs of the institution, ensuring that the learning environment remains conducive to the holistic development of the students.

On her part, Mrs Obaseki left the school premises with a renewed sense of gratitude and nostalgia, cherishing the memories of her formative years and reaffirming her commitment to contributing to the growth and development of educational institutions in the State.
