I was misrepresented: I’ve never influenced my wife’s job as a judge – Bulkachuwa
The former Senator, representing Bauchi North in the Senate, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa has rubbished claims that he influenced his wife’s decisions while she was serving as the President of the Court of Appeal.
His wife, Zainab was the President of the Court of Appeal between 2014 and 2020.
The former senator, in an interview with BBC Hausa Services, said he was not allowed to finish his statement before the former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan interrupted him.
“Well, I was not even allowed to finish, I just started with some words like thanking her, she was patient with me, I am in politics and she is in law,” he said.
Bulkachuwa said he wanted to elaborate on the specific nature of the help she provided, as there existed a wide range of support that professionals in various fields, such as legal practitioners, doctors, or engineers, could offer in their respective roles.
He emphasised that this assistance did not involve any illegal or unethical activities.
The former lawmaker added that in his personal relationship with her, he had never imposed upon her professional autonomy or attempted to influence her judgment in handling cases or running her office, saying that such matters were not even discussed in their home.
