Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Emir of Ilorin, has welcomed the appointment of DIG Kayode Egbetokun as acting Inspector-General of Police.
Gambari, who also serves as Chairman of the Kwara Traditional Rulers Council, conveyed his felicitations in a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesman, Malam Abdulazeez Arowona.
According to Emir, Egbetokun is a detribalized Nigerian and the appointment is a reward for diligence, hard work, and patriotism.
The first-class traditional ruler stated that Egbetokun is dedicated to the security and protection of the nation’s lives and property.
The emir recalled that Egbetokun’s tenure as Commissioner of Police in Kwara from January 2019 to December 2020 was historic due to his persistent efforts to combat crime and criminality across the state.
“On behalf of the entire members of the Kwara Traditional Rulers Council, we heartily rejoice with you on your attainment on the enviable position of acting IG-P.
“I give glory to Almighty Allah that my prayers for you to become Nigeria’s IG-P in my lifetime has become a reality.
“We identify with you and pray that Almighty Allah grant you the strength and absolute guidance to justify the confidence reposed in you,” the statement read in part.
