The Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) received consultants from the European Union at the Gender-Based Violence Virtual and Referral Service (GBV VRRS) Service Centre on a monitoring and learning visit.

This is contained in a press statement issued on Monday by Joke Ladenegan-Oginni, Lagos DSVA.

Ms. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, the Executive Secretary, of Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, led the team in an interactive session on Monday.

According to her, the visit was an opportunity to discuss the impact of the European Union-funded Spotlight initiative, areas of support, and, in particular, the Gender-Based Violence Virtual and Referral Service.

“We use this opportunity to reiterate the State Government’s total commitment to ensuring holistic care and support is provided to survivors even as we remain committed to reducing this menace to the barest minimum,” Vivour-Adeniyi said.

The visiting consultants, led by Team Leader and HRBA Expert Conflict Sensitivity, Human Rights, and Gender Mainstreaming for the European Union, Mark McGinty, and Dr. Tarila Marclint Ebeide, were informed that the GBV VRRS has served over 4105 survivors since its inception in January 2021, despite over 165 rescue missions.

The accessibility and availability of the services, which are available 24/7, 365 days a year via the agency’s toll-free number 0-8000-333-333, were emphasised, ensuring access to unrestricted professionals and all-encompassing or holistic services.

While lauding the European Union-funded Spotlight effort and our United Nations technical partners, Vivour-Adeniyi said it was also an occasion to thank LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Oke Osanyintolu, for his partnership and unwavering support.
