The Kano-Jigawa Professionals Forum (KJPF) has developed a 10-year plan designed to ensure economic cum infrastructural developments for Kano and Jigawa states.

The chairman of the Forum, Dr. Shamsudddeen Usman, disclosed this to journalists on Saturday, during KJPF 3rd Mentoring Programme, held at Dangote Business School, Bayero University Kano (BUK).

According to him, the Plan has already been submitted to governors of the two states, adding that a committee is already set up to follow up on the implementation.

He said the Forum, apart from mentoring young professionals to reach the peak of their careers, has been supporting the governments of Kano and Jigawa states, intervening whenever necessary, towards ensuring that they provide dividends of democracy to the people.

He further stated that the mentoring programme was conceived by the Forum towards encouraging young professionals and professionals, particularly, in Kano and Jigawa states, to embrace professionalism and advance in their various professions, with a view to developing their abilities and identifying opportunities in their chosen careers.

Dr Usman, former Minister of Budget and National Planning, said the 3rd Mentoring Programme with the theme: “Climbing Up the Ladder of Your Professions: Challenges and Opportunities,” was tailored to enable participants to deepen their understanding of the opportunities inherent in their various professions.

He added that the Forum is designed to, “encourage them to be innovative in terms of using their professions so as to achieve self-realization as being witnessed globally.

“Creating a good relationship between the mentors and the mentees through the sustenance of lessons learning; and opening the minds of the professionals to the wider opportunities for them, beyond Kano and Jigawa, in the rest of Nigeria and even globally.”

Dr Usman said he was impressed over the turnout of participants which is over 640, noting that, “about 600 participants were targeted to benefit from this year’s programme comprising students from the universities in Kano and Jigawa states, as well as other young professionals.

“This time, also in a bid to widen the scope of participation in the programme, technology has been deployed, that has enabled e-registration and virtual participation in the event.”

During the programme, professionals from different fields delivered mentoring lectures to the participants.
