The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, deployed its resources to the scene of a gas explosion at Ijaiye, beside the Apostolic Church, Agege, at the wee hours of today, Monday, 26th June, 2023.

Investigation conducted by the LASEMA Response Team revealed that the explosion erupted from a gas shop following a leakage from one of the cylinders.

The Agency’s Responders in collaboration with Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were able to contain the ensuing inferno from escalating to adjourning shops and buildings.

No loss of life, however 4 adults (3 female) and an adult male sustained various degrees of injuries (second degree burns) as a result of the incident and had been attended to by the Agency’s Pre-hospital care, alongside Lagos State Ambulance Services, LASAMBUS.

The victims have also been moved to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH for further medical attention.

A post incident assessment was conducted by the Agency’s LRT alongside LASG Fire. The shop was thereafter cordoned off to avert a secondary incident and the rescue operation concluded.
