Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor (retd), has been officially pulled out from the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The pulling out ceremony, a traditional military ceremony to mark officers’ retirement from service, was held on Friday at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja.

It honours retiring generals, as is customary in the armed forces. The event included a march past by officers from the Nigerian Army, among others.

Past Chiefs of Defence, Army, Navy, and Air Staff, among others, attended the event.

During the ceremony, Irabor stated that providing security for a diverse country like Nigeria is not an easy task. He insisted, however, that it is not insurmountable.

According to him, the country’s debts to men and women who serve in the armed forces cannot be paid in full.

He expressed satisfaction with his military service, saying that he is leaving the armed forces today bigger and stronger than he found it.

Irabor was appointed CDS in January 2021 and retired with others on June 19, following President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of new service chiefs.
