Kano agog as Governor Yusuf visits Emir Bayero's palace

Kano state Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, along with members of his cabinet and other top-ranking officials, graced the Hawan Daushe at the palace of the Emir of Kano and chairman of Kano Council of Emirs, His Highness, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, on Thursday.

Governor Yusuf was accompanied by his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, and state executive council members.

The traditional ritual, spiced with Durbar, was held at Kofar Kudu, the Emir’s palace.

His Lordship, Bishop Isaac Idahosa, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, was also present as a guest.

Daushe Durbar is a Sallah homage paid by District Heads to the Emir and other traditional title holders in the Kano Emirates, riding in various horse gears, clad in various traditional regalia, in a beautiful display of Kano’s historic merit as a kingdom bestowed with ecstatic tradition.

Furthermore, observers believe that this year’s Hawan Daushe is the most impressive, colourful, and interesting part of the Durbar celebrations, as well as the first to be attended by Governor Yusuf as the Executive Governor of Kano, who assumed leadership on May 29, 2023.

Thousands of Kano residents flocked to the Emir’s palace to greet the Governor.

Governor Yusuf waved to the crowd as his convoy slowly moved into the Emir’s Palace for the celebration, which was also witnessed by tourists and well-wishers of Kano from around the world.
