A joint military and police team has recovered six guns, 220 live ammunition and other weapons in a search of suspected hideout of criminal at Agadaga Ave., off Jakpa Road, in Ekpan, Effurun, Delta State.

The assorted guns recovered during the raid include one AK-47 rifle, one assault rifle, two English pump-action guns, one double barrel gun and one single barrel gun.

A toy gun was also recovered from the the raid on a criminals’ hideout in Effurun.

The raid was carried out on Monday by Army personnel attached to 3 Battalion, Effurun, and policemen from Ekpan Division, spokesperson for the Command in Delta, DSP Bright Edafe said in a statement on Tuesday.

The police spokesperson said that the team conducted thorough search at an uncompleted building in the criminals’ hideout at Agadaga Ave., off Jakpa Road, Ekpan.

He said the raid was ordered by the the Commissioner of Police Delta, CP Wale Abass was sequel to the numerous complaints from residents of Ekpan and environs on activities of kidnappers and armed robbers in Ekpan, Warri, and environs by residents.

According to him, the raid was carried out by a combined team of policemen attached to Ekpan division and military personnel of 3 battalion Nigerian army.

“Items recovered during the search included one AK-47 rifle with five magazines loaded with 161 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and one assault rifle with two magazines loaded with 59 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.

“Others were: two English pump-action guns, 110 rounds of live cartridges, one double barrel gun, one single barrel gun, one toy gun, cutlasses and a bunch of charms,” the police spokesman said.

Edafe said that effort was on to apprehend the hoodlums.
