Olu The Wave

Oyefeso Oluwamayowa Olumide popularly known as “Olu the Wave” was born on January 5 1998 and he’s an indigene of Remo north Ogun State, Nigeria but he was brought up in Lagos State where he schooled and lived most of his life. He is also the last child in a family of six.

Olu the Wave is a filmmaker and he has quickly risen as a leading innovator in Nigeria’s growing music video industry and is responsible for creating scintillating videos for many of Nigeria’s top artists. His catalog includes work with Vector, Falz, M.I., Iyanya, Peruzzi, Adekunle Gold, Zlatan, and many more.

Olu’s interest in music and visual arts was nurtured early in his youth where he spent time on video sets as a runner and production assistant. He has spent time building skills as a dancer, skater, and artist and as an errand boy. He was featured in several music videos as a dancer and an extra and these experiences inspired Olu to pursue creating visual art of his own.

Olu founded “A Strange Picture” in 2020 before his first breakthrough music video he directed for Vector- ‘No Peace’ followed by ‘Johnny’ by Falz, and ‘One Life’ by Pheelz

Since entering the directorial scene in 2018, Olu The Wave has since grown his craft to a position where he is recognized as one of the top music video directors in Nigeria. He has been responsible for some of the most gripping and thrilling music videos that have been enjoying heavy rotation on top TV channels as well as garnering a huge number of views on the different DSPs such as YouTube and Apple TV as well as others.

His dedication to his art and his poise to grow and improve his creativity has been the bedrock of his success to this point where he is a highly recommended and sort after director, with his client base spanning beyond his country.
