Plateau govt relaxes curfew in Mangu LGA

Plateau Governor introduces tech-enhanced security measures
Governor Caleb Mutfwang

The Plateau State Government has announced a reassessment of the previous 24-hour curfew placed on Mangu Local Government Area (LGA).

It will now be observed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

This is contained in a statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Bere Gyang after the State Security Council meeting.

They also considered permitting students to participate in the ongoing National Examination Council (NECO) and Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE).

Movement within the local government area will be prohibited between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. until further notice, save for security personnel and those performing vital jobs.

Security agencies have been asked to ensure strict compliance with the curfew during the review period.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fulfilling the state’s constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property.

Mutfwang had imposed a 24-hour curfew on the Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) on Sunday, following a series of attacks that resulted in the loss of lives and property in the area.

Thirteen persons were slain in recent attacks in some LGA areas.
