Nigerian singer Portable has accused Shallipopi of employing fraudulent means to secure top positions on music charts.

Known for his outspoken nature, Portable took to social media to air his grievances against Shallipopi’s sudden rise to fame. Portable claimed that Shallipopi‘s recent hit single, “Ex-Convict,” had quickly climbed the ranks on Apple Music’s Top Song chart, occupying the coveted second position. However, Portable argued that such a feat was achieved through illicit means rather than genuine popularity.

Portable questioned in his social media rant. He further accused Shallipopi of utilizing “stream farmer boys” to manipulate the streaming numbers and criticized his lack of recognition and talent.

“Who be that shall-Poppi, they will still carry you. You wey dem just release. How many music you sing? Who sabi your face? You wey dem just release, you con dey top chart. Me wey go prison, I no top chart. You are a thief; you’re using farmer boys. Your face no blow, your voice no sound. Come Zeh nation make I teach you,”

On the other hand, Fireboy DML and Wizkid have shown their support for Shallipopi. Fireboy, known for his soulful music, expressed his admiration for Shallipopi and offered his endorsement through various social media platforms. Wizkid, the Grammy award-winning superstar and a discerning voice in Nigerian music, took to his Instagram story, sharing a picture of himself listening to Shallipopi’s song “Ex-Convict.” The endorsement from these established artistes has intensified the spotlight on his talent.
