Barcelona, Manchester United and six other clubs have been fined by UEFA for breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

The European soccer’s governing body disclosed this on Friday.

Barcelona was fined 500,000 euros for wrongly reporting “profits on disposal of intangible assets” in 2022, while United was fined 300,000 euros for “minor break-even deficits”.

In a statement, United said “While disappointed by the outcome, Manchester United accepts this fine for what UEFA acknowledges to be a minor technical breach of its previous Financial Fair Play rules”.

APOEL of Cyprus and Konyaspor of Turkey were each penalised 100,000 euros for the same crime as United, while Turkish clubs Istanbul Basaksehir and Trabzonspor, Belgian champions Royal Antwerp, and Anderlecht were also penalised.

The decisions follows the last round of monitoring using FFP standards, which were replaced by new sustainability regulations announced last year.

A group of high-profile European teams, including Paris St. Germain, AC Milan, and Inter Milan, which reached settlements with UEFA in September last year, have met benchmarks established for the fiscal year 2022.

UEFA also stated that these clubs would be scrutinised for compliance next season.
