Deputy National Chairman North of the All Progressives Congress Senator Abubakar Kyari presided over an emergency National Working Committee Meeting of the All Progressives Congress of the APC on Monday.
Notably, the National chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, who was reported to have resigned on Sunday was not at the venue.
The National Secretary of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore, who was also reported to have resigned, initially left the APC secretariat at Blantyre Street Abuja.
But he returned moments later. Witnesses said he was not allowed to enter the venue of the meeting.
Those attending the meeting with Kyari were: Deputy National Chairman (South), Emma Enukwu; National Vice Chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman; National Vice Chairman (North-East), Salihu Mustapha; National Vice Chairman (North Central), Muazu Bawa; National Vice Chairman (South-West), Issac Kekemeke; National Vice Chairman (South-East), Ejoroma Arodiogu and the Deputy National Secretary, Barr. Festus Fuanter.
Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, Chidi Duru in an exclusive interview with NTA said meetings are currently going on across all organs in view of the development affecting the party’s National Leadership.
There is no official confirmation yet on the resignations of Sen Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore.
Senator Abdullahi kept mute over the development.
“I won’t speak about these Issues because the president is away, Let’s wait for his arrival before knowing the situation on ground”.
President Tinubu who is now the leader of the party left Nairobi on Monday, a day after attending the African Union mid-year summit.
Omisore also later told reporters that he initially left the secretariat to ask Adamu why he was absent.
” I Left To Meet With The National Chairman Adamu, To Know Why He Wasn’t Here At The Secretariat, I Went To Meet Adamu And Find Out What ’s Wrong”.
But he too was shut out of the meeting, on his return.
The APC is scheduled to hold its National Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday.
