House of Reps confirms appointment of Service Chiefs

The House of Representatives on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of the Service Chiefs by President Bola Tinubu last month.

The Service Chiefs are: Major General Christopher Musa; Major General Taoreed .A. Lagbaja; AVM Hassan Abubakar; and Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla.

Their confirmation is sequel to the presentation of report by the Ad-hoc committee on the screening of nominees for appointment as Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs, to the House.

The Chairman of the Committee, Babajimi Benson, presented the report and was considered by the Committee of the Whole.

Benson said the nominees were asked questions pertaining to internal and external security structures.

Tinubu had earlier in June fired the former Service Chiefs and appointed new ones whose names were presented to the National Assembly for approval in line with the laws of the land.
