Nollywood actor Yemi Ayebo popularly known as ‘Yemi My Lover’ has taken to social media to retract his previous statements bashing gospel singer Tope Alabi.
The actor said that his words were taken out of context and were solely driven by love for the award-winning singer.
In the video posted online, Yemi My Lover admitted that he had no role in establishing Tope Alabi’s career, and thus, he had no expectations from her.
He clarified that any remarks he made about Tope Alabi‘s absence from his birthday celebration or not giving him a gift were never meant to be taken negatively.
“Please was I the one that established Tope Alabi? Why will I be expecting her to do anything for me? All my words that day, that she didn’t attend my birthday or gave me a gift were out of love. I don’t have anything against her. I am satisfied with what I have,” Yemi My Lover stated in the video.
The initial incident caused a stir on social media when the actor criticized Tope Alabi, accusing her of being a hypocrite. Fans and followers of both celebrities were quick to share their opinions on the matter, leading to heated speculations.
However, with this latest video, Yemi My Lover aims to put the controversy to rest and clarify that his intentions were purely out of love for Tope Alabi. He acknowledged her accomplishments and made it clear that he holds no grudges against her.
