The Theatre Art and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) organised a special birthday party and present for iconic actor Charles Olumo Sanya-Olu, also known as “Agbako.”

The event, held at the Excellent Event Centre in Agbako’s hometown of Abeokuta, was a star-studded affair, with respected actors and filmmakers from Nigeria’s film industry in attendance.

The whole Nollywood community came together to celebrate Agbako’s unrivalled contributions to the growth and cultural enrichment of the film industry as he celebrated his 100th birthday.

The highlight of the occasion was Tampa’s presenting of a precious gift to Agbako: a giant frame recognising his illustrious career and effect on the film business.

A close friend of Agbako, renowned director Tunde Kelani, captured the spirit of the party on his Instagram page, saying, “Happening now in Abeokuta City, bumper celebration, for the oldest thespian in Nigeria, Charles Olumo Sanyaolu at 100.” “Thank you very much, Tampa.”

The President of TAMPAN, Bolaji Amusan, also known as Mr. Latin, thanked God for the success of the historic event. “It went well,” he said.

Veteran performers present included Jide Kosoko, Yomi Fash Lanso, and Adebayo Salami, among many others, who joined the chorus of praise for Agbako.

Agbako’s artistic journey serves as an inspiration to future generations of actors and filmmakers, with more than seven decades of acting greatness under his belt.

His contributions to Nigerian movies have earned him a position in entertainment history.
