How 6 friends died after consuming drink donated for 'reconciliation' in Ogun

Tragedy struck in Ogbogbo community of Ijebu North-East Local Government Area of Ogun State last Tuesday as six friends reportedly died after sharing a bottle of drink bought for ‘reconciliation’ by another friend.

The seventh friend had donated the drink for reconciliation with his six friends after a serious altercation with them at a drinking joint where they had gathered to have a nice time.

NAN quoted a source as saying the six deceased individuals and the suspect who bought the drink had serious altercation at the joint but later resolved their matter.

It was further learnt that the seventh friend offered to donate a bottle of drink to affirm their reconciliation.

According to a source, all those that had the drink died, except the seventh friend who allegedly went and bring the drink from his home.

He was said not to have partook of it.

The source said that some hours after they had dispersed, news filtered into the town that two of them had died, while four others were hospitalised.

It also said that the four died the following day.

The seventh friend, who is now a suspect in the killing of his friends was reported to have fled the area in the wake of the incident.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to NAN.

She said, “I just confirmed that something like that occurred but the families said they were not pressing charges and prefer to bury their dead.”
